Projects completed in 2016

Keeping track of the completed projects is half the fun of quilting - the sense of accomplishment when you are finished is so fulfilling.  For last year's Projects - go to Completed Projects for 2015

Completed projects for 2016

Puzzle Quilt - This was machine pieced and hand quilted and was completed in mid-December.  It was a Christmas Gift for my Grandson.

Wild Quilt.  This quilt was machine pieced and machine quilted and was a gift for my Son-in Law for Christmas.  I completed it in Mid-December.

Since every family dinner involves my Cheese Potatoes - a double batch - I decided it was time I made an insulated carrier to transport them from home to where ever we are having the party.  This folds out flat and is fastened with velcro strips and has carrying handles.

This is a Journal cover and along with the following Messenger Bag was a gift for my Daughter-in-Law.

Messenger Bag -  This was a Christmas Gift for my Daughter-in-Law

Travel pillows for my son and three of my grandsons for Christmas.

An Amish Puzzle Ball with Minky edges for my Great Grandson for Christmas.

These Three go together - a trivet, Total of 4 napkins with rings and 4 bowl holders for my daughter for Christmas.

Snowy Fun is a wall hanging for beside the door for winter.  I'm trying to get one for at least each season - if not each month.  Anyway I have a fall one and this is my winter one.  It is Machine appliqued  and machine quilted and I completed it November 27, 2016

The Flower Garden Quilt was started about 2 years ago as a quick, easy fun project.  It was another one that got set aside in favor of a more urgent project and then more or less forgotten.  I pulled it out this year and finished it on September 27, 2016.  It is machine pieced and hand quilted and will probably be gifted to a family member at a later date.

I found this panel on one of my quilt shop hops several years ago and kept planning on making it up and just never got around to it.  Finally I decided it needed to be done and given to some little boy who would enjoy it.  The border is machine pieced and it is machine quilted.  I finished it in September 2016.

Maxine's America is made from a Panel showcasing Maxine's opinions of America and American society - very funny.  Anyway the quilt is machine pieced and quilted.  I completed it in June of 2016 and it will probably be gifted to a family member.

Row x Row 2016 - theme is Home Sweet Home.  I only did the minimum of 8 rows from 8 different shops this year.  The rows are from (top to bottom) Willow Creek and Stitch and Sew Cottage both in Kalona, Iowa - The Quilt Box in Kewanee, Illinois - Nonnie's Attic in Pekin, Illinois - The Quilting Bee in Galesburn, Illinois - Neal's in Muscatine, Iowa - Peddler's Way in Washington, Illinois and Prairie Points in Peoria, Illinois.  I completed it on July 20, 2016 and Hope to be the first to turn it in to one of those 8 shops.

Women of the Bible - the quilt is from a weekly online Bible Study and quilt group.  Each block represents a different Woman of the Bible who we studied for the week.  It took me nearly four years to totally complete the quilt.  The blocks are a combination of hand and machine piecing and Applique and it is hand quilted.  I completed it on June 3, 2016.

Fold and Stitch Wreath - or Table Topper - I really like the look of this and have been meaning to make it for several months, but something always came up!!  I hadn't actually intended to do it in fall colors - but that is what was in the stash!!  Anyway I completed it on July 12, 2016 and will use it this fall as a table topper.

2015 Row by row - completed June 1, 2016 It has 18 rows by 18 different stores.  It is machine pieced, machine quilted, machine appliqued and hand embroidered and completed on June 1 ,2016

These are wall flower table toppers or Doll Quilts.  I learned the technique from Jane Kaiser at her Creative Club.  This one went to Charity, But second is going to my great granddaughter for Christmas - along with a doll or a teddy bear,  They were completed in June 2016.

"Mustang Road Trip"  I realized that I had never made my husband a quilt - though I've been quilting all of my life - so after he got home from the hospital I decided it was time to rectify that oversight.  He loves Mustang cars, and he loves road tripping - so I went in search of mustang and road map fabric.  The Quilt is machine pieced and machine quilted on my home machine.  It was completed May 9, 2016.

SunBonnet Sue Hits the Slopes is part of the Sun Bonnet Sue Through the Year Series I have been working on.  She and her sisters hang on my front door as their season comes around. She was completed on January 5, 2016.
Flying Swallows Wall Hanging, Machine Pieced and quilted.  Completed January 14, 2016.
Pocket Mug Rug Completed January 23, 2016.  My Friend found this idea somewhere and I loved it so I had to try my hand at it.  It was fun to make and a nice break from trying to finish all the bigger projects on my table.
February SunBonnet Sue is part of the Sun Bonnet Sue Through the Year Series I have been working on.  She and her sisters hang on my front door as their season comes around. She was completed on January 30, 2016.
Frogs & Snails & Dragonfly Wings - I found the panel I used in this quilt quite a while ago - and then when my first Great-Grandchild was born - this became the basis for this quilt.  It is Machine pieced and machine quilted and was completed January 31, 2016 and was gifted to the baby.
Mission Quilt Top  - I've had these blocks for many years and finally decided it needed to be assembled and donated to the church for a mission quilt.  Finished the piecing on February 3, 2016.
Wallet - I saw a picture on a group that some one had made a quilted wallet and I decided to try my hand at it.  This is what I came up with.  Completed March 14, 2016
This is a very special piece with a special history that has been 50 years in the making.  The center embroidery was made by my cousin Eileen Pugsley back in 1965 and given to me as a gift.  It hung in my house for many years and then somehow got misplaced.  I found it a while back and cleaned it up and decided to quilt it, but it got put on the back burner for more "important" projects.  This year I decided it needed to be finished and displayed.  I completed it on March 15, 2016 and it is hanging over the stairs in the entryway.
This is a Doll Quilt that I completed from a kit I picked up at my Guilt meeting.  It will be given to needy children at Christmas.  I will turn it back in at the June 2016 Meeting.
June SunBonnet Sue is part of the SunBonnet Sue Through the Year.  This is the final piece of my collection.  She is on her Honeymoon cruise.  It is all machine worked and was completed May 16, 2016
I decided I wanted a pretty dresser runner for in our bedroom.  The fabric is left over from a quilt I made that ended up going to my daughter in law.  I'm very happy with the dresser runner - it matches my bedroom.  Completed January 12, 2016.
